Peer Mentoring in Action – Illinois College Students Explore Chicago

Students from the ACI-supported Peer Mentoring Program at Illinois College in Jacksonville, IL, wrapped up the academic year with a memorable trip to Chicago, filled with discovery, connection, and a little magic.

The trip offered more than sightseeing—it celebrated the growth and camaraderie fostered through a year of mentorship. ACI is proud to support programs that build community, confidence, and unforgettable experiences for students across Illinois.

One of the highlights included attending the grand opening of the Harry Potter store, where students immersed themselves in the wizarding world. For many, it was their first time navigating the city like locals, riding public transportation and exploring neighborhoods with confidence, thanks to mentor Jocelyn Lagunas Vargas, a Chicago native who thoughtfully planned the route.
